The pub boasts a rich historical legacy, standing as one of the nation’s oldest continuously operated inns. Its compelling history stretches back to medieval times when it was under the ownership of Ford Abbey’s monks. In the 18th century, it evolved into a coaching inn, a heritage still visible today in its entrance that extends into the street, offering patrons a view of approaching coaches.
